On 7th November 2009 a new memorail was unvieled on the site of the now demolished Ellington Colliery (The Big E). I attended that event as a former Ellington Miner having transfered there from Lynemouth in Nov 1983 what an excellent day it was Congratulations to Jack Tubby & Neil Taylor along with the rest of the memorial group for the effort in getting the money together to create this "Great Memorial" which I think is the best one so far, Well Done All. On display was a Gallery of Photographs new & old some on the surface taken during open days but mostly underground scenes. I was so taken with that display I approached both Jack & Neil to ask them to allow mw to put them on show in our Centre. Its well worth the time to come along & Look at them.
